Printronix P5000 Printer Technical Note 5-0036 Rev B

P5000, Power Factor Corrected (PFC) – V5 Power Supply PCBA

Summary:

To announce the release of the Version 5 Power Factor Corrected (PFC) - Power Supply PCBA for the P5000 Series. The purpose of this release is for compliance with the new IEC regulations for harmonics and flicker in European Countries.

Resolution:

Effective January 1, 2001, all shipments of the P5000 Series printers to European Countries
will contain the V5 Power Factor Corrected (PFC) - Power Supply PCBA, P/N 163047-901.

All new installations at customer locations within the European Community must have this V5 PFC-Power Supply PCBA, which means all printers in inventory on January 1, 2001, either at Printronix or at our distributors, must be updated with the V5 PFC-Power Supply PCBA before installing at the end-user's site within the European Community. Installations within Europe to countries outside of the E.E.C do not require this V5 Power Supply PCBA.

Printers already installed before January 1, 2001, may continue to use the V4 Power Supply PCBA, P/N 157102-901, as a spare.

Old printers being refurbished, and returned to their original purchaser, may use the V4 Power Supply PCBA, P/N 157102-901. However, refurbished printers sold to a different customer, must be upgraded to the V5 PFC-Power Supply PCBA and then can only use the V5 PFC-Power Supply PCBA as a spare.

Note:
The above requirements apply to the P5000 Series in E.E.C Countries only.

Refer to the part numbers below to differentiate between the V5 and the V4 Power Supply PCBAs:
