Black Back Paper Switch Assembly
Summary: 

To provide information about an optional sensor assembly for the P5000 series printers when
encountering black backed or transparent paper and forms.
Resolution:

Printronix has available an option kit that will work in those cases where black backed or some
other combination of colors or transparent forms are used in the P5000 impact printers. A
typical error you will see is “LOAD PAPER” when paper is present and loaded correctly. The
printers use an optical sensor to sense paper loaded and black does not reflect enough light for
the sensor. The option kit includes a switch assembly that uses a different sensing
arrangement to sense paper, and installation instructions. You will also need a maintenance
manual to complete all the required adjustments when replacing the sensor.

This option kit can be acquired by ordering kit:
Switch Assembly, Paper Detector SPR, 154047-901.
